heathkits have used the 8w unit to 7km line of sight to repeater at 500 ft elevation. You can expect as little as 1km over flat terrain.

heathkits get a standing wave ratio meter and tune the antenna. It may indeed produce 10w into the final, but a poor SWR can throw much of it away.

Nice little radio. Comes with the charge cradle, hand strap, antenna and belt clip. Put the wrist strap on before the belt clip! Don't expect 10w out of this radio. 5-6w at most. Still a good radio that receives very well. UV-5R accessories seem to work on it (hand mic/speaker, computer cable and headset). Nagoya N771 antenna is much better than the one supplied.

Perfect to illuminate keyboard on computer at nighttime. Just plug into front USB. Checks for dead USB on chargers or other devices. Also illuminates outlet expanders with USB output. put into USB on flat panel TV to illuminate wall behind. Map reading light from USB connector in car. will run days from USB battery pack / phone battery with OTG adapter. Illuminates cords behind computer so I can hook up back. You find uses for this gadget, that can't be done any other way.

Amazon's Alexa Internet Assistant and the SONOFF wifi switch are the heart of an Ultimate Voice-Controlled Jukebox. Through it's wired output, Alexa provides awesome fidelity into an audio mixer that drives 3 JBL pro audio amplified speakers. Each left and right channel JBL-PRX825W speaker provides 1500 watts at peak and the JBL-PRX825w subwoofer can provide nearly 2000 watts intermittently. Alexa's audio extends below 25hz - enough to keep the subwoofer happy. The system is installed in a 25,000 cu ft room in a private home. Inexpensive SONOFF Wifi activated switches to control power to create a fully voice-controlled system. The system requires three ac mains circuits to deliver adequate power to the 3 internally amplified speakers. This requires 3 wifi activated switches, one for each speaker. The Alexa "Smart Home Fan" skill drives eWelink commands singly to each speaker, or as a group. The power can also be controlled from a smartphone as well. In the configuration, a user speaks "Alexa - turn on speakers". Then Alexa turns on all three powered speakers and then responds "OK" through the speakers to acknowledge the command. Using Amazon Music Unlimited (or Spotify, I-Heart, etc), Alexa can then play any one of thousands of Internet music selections on voice command. When the session is over, "Alexa - turn off speakers" shuts the system down. This enables true, hands-free music on demand.

heathkits It means it can be adjusted to give either 12hour time or 24 hour time.
