Arrived after 12 days of placing my order, carefully packed, in perfect condition.
(Thanks Banggood for that xtra adaptor for JPN, btw.)
After fiddling with my new toy + doing a bit of reserch on the net, I figured it out
how to set up this beauty for "Rakuten UN-LIMIT VI" users.
Here's how !
1) Do the APN set-up as follows :-
APN Name: rakuten.jp
APN: rakuten.jp
MCC: 440
MNC: 11
APN Type: default,supl,tether
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
Bearer: LTE
→ "Save" this settings NOW, before you forget!
2) Then, pressing "+" button at the top right hand corner,
add 2nd APN as follows :-
APN Name: ims
APN: ims
MNC: 11
APN Type: ims
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
Bearer: LTE
→ Make sure you "save" this setttings again.
(F.Y.I., I always forget + panic!)
3) Go back to "APN" section, and choose "Rakuten mobile" .
4) Using your phone app (NOT the "Rakuten Link" app yet!),
enter *#*#4636#*#*
→ this code will take you to the "Test Mode"
5) Goto "Mobile phone info"
→ Find "Network Type"
→ Choose to "LTE only"
When finished, close the phone app, and
go back to "Setting" (=Settei) section, then
6) Goto "Network and Internet"
→ Tap "Mobile Network"
→ Under the "SIM(Rakuten)", carefully go thru the whole page
and make sure that "4G" is selected where applicable.
7) Now, install "Rakuten Link" app, and
do the usual set-up procedures.
That's it!
Well done! :-)
Your phone should have "VoLTE" sign showing
next to antenna etc., on the Home Screen
N.B.
With this phone, you no longer need to do that silly
"VoLTE-ka Trick" that every Umidigi-Rakuten users used to do.
This clever chap automatically detects VoLTE for us.
