NielV No, you are not recovering wasted energy because the dishwasher now has to work harder to push water out of the pipe so that the power can be generated. Add to that the waste/inefficiency of converting energy, and you are better off just charging from mains. The only exception is if you are capturing free-falling water to generate the power, as long as you do not have to raise the hose higher than you would have without the generator.
