Ronny Yes, it works for automotive. I used the BC-version for many years, mainly for BUS-systems and microcontrollers. The BE-Version should be the best solution if you want to analyze CAN-BUS. If you need an integrated function-generator, you should take a closer look at the BD-Version. You can use any PC or Notebook with win7 and above, but I highly recommend you to use a NOTEBOOK or LAPTOP because the GND-clamp is connected to the USB-shield and that can generate a short-circuit if You measure mains voltage or something else that's connected to the power grid (switching power supplies, etc.).
