Don'tgive up too soon! I agree that the online editor is half baked, but Lovyan LGFX and TFT_eSPI all cooperate and you can hard code the graphics using standard tft.fillRect style..
This works well:
#define LGFX_AUTODETECT // Autodetect board
#define LGFX_USE_V1 // set to use new version of library
#include // main library
#include
#include "LittleFS.h"

Myprevious comment suffered formatting errors!
define LGFX_AUTODETECT, define LGFX_USE_V1, include LovyanGFX.hpp, include TJPG_Decoder, include LittleFS
Touch works and Write to the screen tft.fillRectangle
Load JPG with TJPGDecoder
All cooperate well.

Iuse TFT_eSPI library with VSC/Platformio and works well with the device.
You can select your device by editing the User_Setup_Select.h file, and uncomment the corresponding line. In our case the #include
(Don't forget to comment out the other boards, only one should be uncommented at all)
From there you can use any of the TFT_eSPI commands in your code. The library has a decent amount of examples/demos, and a somewhat fair amount of documentation / tutorials on the net.
Also the generic ESP32 sourcecodes found on the net should work without any issues.
Hope this helps :)
