If I knew before that I'll have to solder 225 SMD LEDs I would have probably not ordered the kit, as I had no previous experience soldering SMD components. However, once I got past the "now what" moment, I read the manual which gives a few great hints and reading a few "how to solder SMD" tutorials on the web, I was ready to give it a try. It took me about 3 hours to solder all the LEDs, one column at a time. After soldering each column of LEDs I made sure there were no bad contacts or LEDs destroyed by the excessive heat.If the later happens, there are 5 extra LEDs included - you don't get too many tries :). You can verify the LEDs using a multimeter on the diode setting - the LEDs will lit in symmetrical pairs except the middle row. The other difficult component to solder was the MCU - I suggest putting some solder on the PCB pads, then gently press the MCU's pins on the pads with the tip of the soldering iron. Make sure you clean all solder from the tip before doing that. Same procedure goes for the micro-USB connector. Then, it basically worked from the first try (except some bad contacts at the MCU which I had to redo). All in all it's an awesome gadget cool to have near your music box but requiring some patience to build.
