pendersricardo ThisLCD display only works with I2C, that's because of the extra PCB board on the backside which makes it easy to connect to an Arduino Nano for example as I do it personally, if you have the Arduino IDE installed on your computer open it and go to Tools, Manage Libraries or use the hotkey combo CTRL SHIFT L to open up the Library Manager and then search for the LiquidCrystal_PCF8574_Test library, install that library and with that library you have a test sketch in the Examples that you can use to get familiar with the code to get this display working.

Venkat Bare copper is fairly resistant to corrosion, but when it is used in wet environments or places with high humidity, it can quickly become damaged. When bare copper is operating at temperatures that exceed 100 degrees Celsius, it may start to degrade. This kind of damage can result in a loss of performance. Tinned copper is easier to connect because tin is a primary component in solder. Tinned copper is better equipped to resist humidity, high temperatures and wet environments.

Tee One Dee You need to learn about solder tip maintenance. You clean the tip with absolutely every application of solder. Typical cleaning methods are with a wire "sponge," or a heat-tolerant sponge that has been slightly dampened with water. I much prefer the wire sponge. Check out YouTube; they have professional grade soldering tutorials... Even from NASA.

Tee One Dee I have Windows 10, myself. I have two of these modules and neither works. Windows 10 beeps to indicate that both adapters connect, but the adapters do not communicate with the device (a U-Blox NEO-M8N GPS module.) I have verified all other components, wires, etc. Everything is working except these adapters. I have another brand of USB to TTL adapter and it works on WIndows 10 to communicate with the GPS module. Did you ever find out how to make this adapter work? If so, how? Thanks for the help.

grumpy_gnome Do a search for "LCD 2004A datasheet". based on a look at the results, most of these panels seem to use an Hitachi HD44780 or compatible LCD controller. See results from systronix or hobbytronics. A little digging will get to a datasheet - BG won't allow direct links.
