2nd kit assembled in 2 days. This is my first ever dive into the SMD assembly world, so I was working with handicaps; Wrong soldering iron, no solder wick, and eyesight only a blind man could love. With that in mind, please pardon the rosin deposits on the board. Working with a 40 year old 30 watt iron with a standard width chisel tip was a challenge. The layout on the board is good. Logical, and convenient, easy to get to the solder points. One tip, to provide the 2mm between the board and the bottom of the crystal can I used 2 bits of the strip the resistors came in, one on top of the other. Worked like a charm. Just don't forget to take it out when you're done. My display cam with bent pins and a broken corner post, so I had some fun soldering it in evenly. It would be VERY nice if Banggood would supply instructions for setting the clock and the various flashy options. I found none. Anywhere. I took a point away from Value For Price because of having to decipher chenglish to figure out what went whe3re, and for dealing with bent pins and a broken display. New to SMD? Pass this one by and make sure you have the correct tools if decide to dive in. Construction time for me was 3 .5 hours.

As per another reviewer I wanted to practice and perfect my SMD soldering. I bought a kit previously that I didn't realise had SMD so that first attempt was a bit ropey. I'd recommend this kit for those that want to practice SMD as the board is set out nicely and there is room to move about. The instructions are a little lacking in content and some guidance on how to use it and set it would be good. The kit doesn't come with a cable so you will need to have a mini usb lead to power it, I'm pretty sure they will sell them on here somewhere. Once up and running it looks quite nice and will probably now line up with al the other clocks I've made from Banggood. I shall attempt to add a couple of pictures. Recommended, not for absolute beginners due to component size but it isn't complicated. Took a couple of hours to contruct.

I bought this to practice my SMD soldering and it was a great starting point. Lots of little 0805 parts with an extra of each type, just in case. Instructions might have been slightly clearer in English but the pictures were enough to follow along. Great for the price!

With my little clock, it was dead once I built it. After looking it over and seeing no issues, I looked at the parts.This is when I noticed the capacitors on the crystal were physically too big. A 30 picofarad cap is normally tiny! So, I desoldered these two caps and voila, the clock works now!! My best guess is that they included two 102 caps (used in C3 that my kit did not have) for the two caps on the crystal. The crystal caps are not generally necessary in this design as there is enough capacitance in the board itself for the oscillator to run.

Bonjour n'étant pas prophète en la matière et par manque de renseignement de la part du vendeur j'aimerai savoir si quelqu'un pourrait m'indiquer ou souder les n° C1/C2/ Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4 car sur les barrettes il n'y a pas de n°. sur les autres j'ai repéré les n°121= R1 / R4/R8/ et 102= R9 aR14. merci d'avance .Snoopy62
