Both the processor and LCD shield worked fine, after one modification. The LCD is soldered to its shield board with a row of pins, and those pins stick out the back. Unfortunately, when the shield is plugged into the processor board, those pins are uncomfortably close to the processor board's USB connector and ICSP pins. I clipped them off to be safe.
