The nut started to slide loose on the threaded shaft, and I said - "Damn, the thread's broken!" And I released it to open again. The two-pieces nut locked itself again like nothing happened. And I found out it's made like that on purpose, so you can easily by-pass the thread by eye-balling the distance to measure, not needing to lose time by screwing and unscrewing the locking nut, and after that you can lock the nut assembly and use it for fine tuning. Brilliant, for someone who never had such a tool, I'm glad I bought it!
